How to apply? Students

Application process for students (Master/PhD):

To attend the Summer School, candidates must apply and submit an application (see content below).

There is a limited number of 65 attendees. Priority will be given to candidates from the EU or affiliated with an institution located in the EU.

Applications will be evaluated by the summer school's scientific commitee. 

Only accepted candidates will be able to register to attend the summer school. 

Application calendar and submission

  • Submission of the application: from January 26th to March 6th 2026
  • Notification of acceptation: March 13th 2026
  • Registration period: March 13th 2026 - April 13th 2026

Application package

  • 1 Pdf file containing
    • a cover letter (1 page max) explaining your research project/working activities and your motivation for attending the summer school
    • your Curriculum Vitae
  • If accepted, registration will be open and candidates will have to submit an A0 Poster in PDF format and in printed format to be displayed and presented during the summer school.

How to submit your application? (Download the tutorial)

To submit your PDF file on the Sustain-E Summer School website:

  • It is necessary to have an account on the scienceconf platform or create one, (see Create)

  • Then, log in by clicking on the Login button

  • Once logged into the platform, click on the "My Space” page, then on "My submissions"
  • On the "New Submission" page, click on the "Submit an abstract" button. 
  • Complete the title "Last Name_Name_Application", for the type, choose "Cover Letter + CV (Students)", then choose your topics of interest.
  • Add an author (you) and your affiliation
  • Select the file from your computer, then click on"Upload"
  • On the "Overview" page of your submission, click on "Submit"
  • You will receive a confirmation email of your submission 


Important information

The Summer School represents 3 ECTS, corresponding to 30 hours approximately of lectures, however it is up to the student to apply for an equivalency at their doctoral school.

Students will receive a Certificate of Attendance for their participation in the Summer School, as they have to sign an attendance sheet everyday. 

Some students may require an exam to validate the ECTS, so we also plan a final exam (online quiz on the lectures), students will receive a Certificate of completion of the exam.

Registration does not includes

  • Accomodation
  • Travel
  • Personal expenses

Participants are kindly asked to make their own travel and accommodation arrangements.
